Story
Paul is going to run the Great North Run on 11th September in
memory of his older sister Karen, who died unexpectedly in June this year. Karen collapsed and died suddenly, whilst on her way to celebrate her 70th birthday in Scotland, with her husband Dave and her two daughters Katherine and Susannah. Karen was kind, warm hearted and thoughtful and was good company, and she is much missed. Emergency services were called and tried to save her, but without success. The family would like the sponsorship from the run, to be for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. The Air Ambulance wasn’t needed for Karen but these services provide vital emergency response services across our region and beyond, day in and day out. All sponsorship raised will go to the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Any help you are able to give is much appreciated.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
