Story
I am running the London Marathon in 2024 for Leukaemia Care in memory of my sister, Louise. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, and despite receiving a stem cell transplant, she died in 2019.
It was Louise's illness that was the inspiration for me to start running, with the goal of raising money and awareness of Leukaemia.
In 2019 I ran both the Asics London 10K and Royal Parks Half Marathon, raising money for Barts Hosptial, where Louise was treated, and Bloodwise (now Blood Cancer UK), before injury to my back put a stop to my running for about a year. Now that I am back to full fitness, I thought it was about time I tried to run a marathon, and raise some money for an amazing cause at the same time.
This is going to be a huge challenge for me, and I am not looking forward to the long training runs through the cold and dark Winter months.
Leukaemia Care is a national charity dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice, and support. Around 34,000 people are affected by blood cancer each year in the UK and we're here to support them through their diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
