Story
In December 2011 my Grandfather was hospitalised at 'Southhampton General Hospital' for heart complications, during which time he suffered a heart attack that he did not regain consciousness from. As a result on the 28th of February 2012 he sadly passed away.
To provide care for patients with severe Cardio-Vascular problems each patient is assigned a personal nurse 24 hours a day to monitor their condition. In further severe cases patients need to be isolated in seperate rooms, relying on numerous life support machines for survival.
The increased requirement of extra staff and equipment puts a huge financial strain on the treating of each patient.
Hopefully the money raised through completing the Half Marathon will provide much needed financial support for Research and Patient Care, as well as raising awareness of the severity of such conditions and encouraging other people to donate to such worthy causes.
