Story
I'm writing a book about the End to End. As a result, I'm doing the End to End. This means riding the route in a couple of chunks (with a bit of a gap between chunks) and experiencing, on some level, the highs and lows of a long day in the saddle. First of all, I'm going to attempt a stupidly long day from Land's End to Bristol to get a sense of how hard these things are.
This is far away from my preferred discipline of cycling, I like short days and gentle riding. This ride is about 203 miles and will take around 16 hours, I think. I am likely to lose all sense of dignity. I'm also catastrophically unfit and need to lose about 12 kilos in 4 weeks (27 May is go for launch).
Considering these factors, I think it makes sense to see if some good can come of it. Therefore, I want to raise money for Bristol OTR, a charity which works to support young people struggling with their mental health.
