Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
I am walking the perimeter of the Isle of Wight (~66 miles) on the 29th and 30th April 2023 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. I'd be grateful for any donation you are able to make.
I remember the day vividly. It was early afternoon and I was working near Manchester, sat on a gaggle of desks in the centre of the client's office. My phone went. "Odd, why's Mam ringing?" . The world just stopped. Sounds dropped away. "Now don't worry. Your's Dad's got bowel cancer". F**K!
Dad beat it in the first round but, of course, it's not knocked down for long. Dad went back into battle but, after another punishing round of chemo, he chose quality over quantity of life and stopped his treatment. Less than two weeks later he slipped away , peacefully, in the middle of the night as we held him. He was 65.
The big "C" touches nearly everyone in some way (it's taken family and friends from me) and I want to play my small part in helping to understand, treat, and maybe even eliminate this awful disease.
Thank you.

[1] I am self funding this trek. All money raised is going to Cancer Research.
[2] A niggling knee had me nearly withdrawing. But then I figured it's a niggling knee not a round of chemo. So here I am going ahead. Yep, not much time to raise funds! Thanks for your promptness.
[3] I am walking with several good friends from Ampthill Baptist Church. They each have their own causes.
