Story
We have been volunteering as boarders for Guide Dogs in training for the last 18 months and so far we have looked after 5, including the 2 lovely lads in the above photograph, Zebedee and Angus. The dogs normally spend around 3-4 months with us whilst the complete their training. It is very rewarding and a bit tough to say goodbye, but we have got to see first hand what an amazing service that Guide Dogs provides and what a difference a Guide Dog makes to the quality of the lives of their owners. I swore that after running the London Marathon in 2009 and 2010 that I would never do it again. However I have now decided that I will try one more time and do more to raise money and awareness for Guide Dogs. So here we go again, 8 years later, a few pounds lighter, but as my son Matty pointed out with a lot more miles on the clock. Wise words indeed for one so young. I have been training hard for the last 6 months in some most unfriendly weather and apart from the odd twinge and a current bout of man flu I am going well. The forecast is looking like we are in for a warm day on Sunday. It will certainly make a change from plodding around in my fleece, woolly hat and gloves. I really do think that this will be the last time and any support that you can offer would be very gratefully received.
Well it certainly was warm! I did get round, but in an absolutely epic 5.42, it took me so long I nearly missed my train. It was very hot and very tough, however the support from all my sponsors and the crowd was amazing and that helped me to finish. I can say that I will never, ever, absolutely, 100% never ever do it again!!!
