Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 25th May this year we lost our beloved father and grandfather to MND.
Maurice (Mo to his friends) was fit, active and healthy.
A mischievous sense of humour, selfless, generous, and greatly loved by his family and friends. In health a hugely inspirational man, something that was only magnified by his stoic attitude through this terrible disease.
At present there is still no cure. Something that must be changed.
For 2023, in dad's memory, we intend to launch a series of challenges and events throughout the year to raise much needed funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Initially this will include:
23rd April 2023 - My daughter Katie and I will be running the London Marathon together. (I say "together" very loosely, as I will probably only see her briefly at the start and again at the end)
14th May 2023 - I will be running (probably hobbling) the "Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon with my daughter Katie and her partner Anthony Carney (again" running with" in the loosest of terms). As you'll be aware Rob was diagnosed with MND back in 2019 at a relatively early age. I feel it only right that we involve this event and support him.
20th May 2023 my daughter Sophie and my son in law Andy will be running the Peak District Ultra Marathon. 54km and over 1346 metres of climbing! Absolute machines both of them!
June 2023 – my wife Tracy and I will attempt the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere. As some of you may be aware, Tracy broke her back in an accident 4 years ago so this is a double challenge for her
25th June – My daughters Sophie, Katie and their partners Andy and Ant will join me for the Wolf Run at Stanford Hall, which should be a muddy affair!
8th July 2023 – I will be swimming the length of Lake Padarn at the foot of Snowdon, two ways. 6km in total. This will be followed by the Snowdon Marathon, 27.3 miles and over 1,685 metres of climbing. Circling and eventually summit of Mount Snowdon.
This is only the beginning. There will also be numerous other events throughout the year which will become increasing silly and will be updated on a regular blog to our friends and supporters. We would be eternally grateful for any support or sponsorship that you can provide.
