We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Recently, my Granny passed away after suffering from Dementia for about 3 or 4 years. An incredible woman, she raised 11 children, worked tirelessly for her community and on the farm and passed away in the same house she had lived for the last 65 years.

In the next two months I will be touring Europe with Olafur Arnalds, Th Herbert Cello Quartet (ha!) and the BBC Philharmonic. Throughout my travels I will be doing concerts in 24 cities from Dublin and Barcelona to Moscow and Istanbul.  In every one of these cities, where time, weather and my dodgy shins permit, I intend to run 10km to raise funds for Alzheimers Research UK, a charity that is not funded by the government and depends on private investment - all in memoy of my Gran.

There are lots of scary facts and statistics about Alzheimers and associated conditions but in the end of the day it is simply a worthwhile cause, whether or not we ever have the misfortune of it coming into our lives.

Anyway, I plan to put up some pictures etc, so it'll be funny to see me gradually waste away and possibly die against the backdrop of the major cities of Europe.

Hurrah!
