Kay and I are joining other golfing buddies who are gearing up for a charity cycle of 400 miles from Cornwall, in memory of our close friend Andy 'Stix' Thomas, whom died suddenly in April 2018.
In Stix's memory,we are aiming to raise £5,000 for Lincolnshire LIVES from a four day ride, starting in Truro on 2nd May 2019 (Stix's childhood home) and finishing on 5th May 2019 at Sleaford Golf Club, via a tribute ride through Stix's adopted home village, Heckington.
Former RAF bandsman and drum tutor, Stix, tragically died on heart failure, aged just 55, after collapsing on stage during a performance. He was assisted by LIVES volunteer first responders, before being conveyed to Pilgrim Hospital, where he sadly passed away.
Our marathon cycle ride, along with other fundraising activities, will contribute to a target sum of £5,000 for Lincolnshire LIVES* - a charity that supports specially trained, local volunteers to deliver fast, vital care in medical emergencies before handing over to the ambulance service. Every penny of your kind donation will contribution to keeping LIVES first responder volunteers on the road, responding to calls for help - a vital emergency support service for the rural communities of Lincolnshire - just:
15p a day £4.50 per month, could ensure a responder can be there for a person in their time of greatest need
33p a day £10 per month, could ensure a responder is able to provide oxygen therapy to patients with respiratory difficulties
66p a day £20 a month, could buy the essential pads to be used with a defibrillator when a patient suffers cardiac arrest.
Thank you for your kind and heart-warming support. Regularly check in on these pages to keep up to speed on our progress, before, during and after.
