Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just back from the maggie's Monster. What a great event. My brothers and I completed the Branze challenge after 9 hours. 30 miles on the mountain bike and 10 miles hiking.
We all made it in the end but not without a couple of falls on the bikes and my brother Stephen needing to strap up his knee prior to the walk. What an effort.
Great support from my wife Judith and 3 kids. They even walked out to accompany us for the last mile. Made the day even more memorable for me. What a contrast to where I was just 1 year ago. I am truly blessed.
Thanks again for your support and donations.
Last year I was diagnosed with cancer in my throat. I was lucky enough to be sent to Ninewells in Dundee for my treatment. The staff there were just amazing and though the treatment was pretty rough they managed to make it bearable for me. After chemo, radiotherapy and surgery, I was given the all clear in September.
This is my chance to try and pay something back to the tremendous people who are involved in caring for people with cancer.
I've entered the Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike in a team with my 3 younger brothers. The event takes place on Saturday 30th April along the Great Glen Way between Fort William and Inverness. There is a 30 mile mountain bike section followed by a hike of brtween 8 and 43 miles depending on the level you are competing at.
Our Dad died of cancer 2 years ago. My family still live in the North east of England and Maggie's are currently fundraising for a new centre in Newcastle where my Dad received some of his treatment.
