Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February 2018, I suffered a brain stem infarct whilst at work, as a Mental Health Nurse. I developed complete right sided paralysis with loss of speech, and I was unable to swallow. Over the first week, I was tube fed until my gag reflex returned, and then stayed in hospital with intense OT and Physio support. With their help, I was able to be discharged home after 4 weeks and 3 days.
To be able to return home, we had to make adaptations to the house to ensure I could continue "normal" living.
Since I have been at home, my fantastic OT and physio support continues to this day, with me making slow and steady progress in my rehabilitation. I have also had support from the Stroke Association, who have helped me come to terms with what happened.
I have also received amazing support from my wife, family and all my friends, who have witnessed my progress.
Now, I would like to participate in the Stroke Association's event, to "Step out for Stroke" which will take place on 23rd June 2018 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, In Warrington.
There, I intend to take as many steps as I possibly can, to show just how far I have traveled, along this journey.
Please donate to my page, to show appreciation on my behalf, for the hard work of the Stroke Association, and to help other victims of this condition.
Thank you in anticipation.
