Story
I am walking 100 miles of the tour because I am aware of the urgent need in our local community.
Not being able to buy your next days food seems unthinkable for most of us but its actually happening in hundreds of households here in the far west of Cornwall. Imagine, yesterday you found out that your work had stopped, today you get a sinking feeling when you discover that you don't qualify for unemployment benefit and you haven't met the criteria for a business grant. You've enough money to last three or four days - then what.Young mums are becoming malnourished because they are giving the food they have to their children. The children's shoes have worn through, but they'll have to wait, and today the washing machine broke down. Parents have had their self-esteem knocked out of them, they harbour thoughts of inadequacy and desperation. They turn to sources of credit with no means of making repayments. Tensions in the household are at breaking point. Our money can relieve their poverty, reduce anxiety and prevent domestic breakdowns.
