Story
I have decided to run the 2019 London Marathon in aid of the
Professional Cricketers’ Trust. The Trust supports current players, past
players and their families when they need it most. I have seen the real
difference this incredible Trust has made to the lives of friends and other
former players, and I am keen to see the Trust continue making life-changing differences.
Today’s game is more competitive, more public and more pressurised than ever before. Even the happiest professional career means long
stretches away from home and financial uncertainty driven by short term contracts. The average cricket career comes to an end at the age of just 26 and players are often left feeling isolated.
The Professional Cricketers’ Trust offers welfare, education and a helping hand during these difficult times. The support includes and is
not limited to, medical care, mental health counselling, preventative
educational programmes and help with addictions.
An example of their amazing work, in 2018 alone the Trust supported 53 PCA members with mental health problems and funded educational
workshops for a further 500 cricketers across the country.
The Trust is solely reliant on donations so please donate generously!
