Story
Back in December 2018, Adam proved that he had the patience of his father & didn’t want to miss all the excitement of Christmas, arriving in this world 14 weeks before his due date!!
As a result of being born so early, Adam was carted off to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where he spent the next 12 weeks, within 2 specialist hospitals, where the doctors & nurses were absolutely brilliant!!
Due to being born soo prematurely, Adams start to life was far from certain & he had to overcome a host of life threatening complications early on. Thankfully, Adam is a fighter & remarkably he was able to leave the hospital before his due date 💪🏻
Some of these conditions Adam has managed to overcome include a hole in his heart, infection, threats to his eyesight, extremely low birth weight, being intubated & learning to breathe on his own. But other medical matters are still under review such as his chronic lung disease and any consequences that may arise as a result of the severe brain bleeds he suffered due to his prematurity.
We feel extremely lucky & grateful that thanks to the dedication & skill of the medical staff involved & the research & support from charities like Bliss, that we are fortunate enough to watch our happy, giggling boy grow up.
As well as the ongoing research & campaigning done by Bliss, they were a real rock of support for Leanne during this difficult time, especially when I had to return to work within the 12 weeks whilst Adam was still in hospital & highly vulnerable.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, your donation will help Bliss continue their work in making a difference supporting the 100,000 babies born every year requiring specialist neonatal care.
Further information on the support & research undertaken by Bliss can be found at www.bliss.org.uk
Many thanks,
Paul 🙂
