The 100 - LDWA South Yorkshire · 3 June 2022

We provide holistic support to refugees and people seeking asylum.

Story

5 years ago Paul J and myself pushed ourselves to walk a 100 miles in under 48 hours. It's an annual walk run by the Long Distance Walkers Association. This time it's around South Yorkshire and the Peaks - our back gardens. We start at 8am on Friday -  just walk with regular pit stops and no sleep. We have to be finished by 8am Sunday. This time we've roped Andrew Kirk in to join us (he's no idea what he's got himself into).

What better motivator than to walk for St Augustine's Centre in Halifax

The urgent help and support they give to arriving refugees, the opportunities they give to their existing community, and the joy they foster within their centre is worth all the blisters, sore legs, and moments of wondering why we're walking - just to know that we walk to raise money for those who walk in search of sanctuary.

To ensure that, thanks to St Augustine's, they don't walk alone.
