Story
The support that Bowel Cancer UK provides has been invaluable for me during the 15 months since my diagnosis with Stage 4 Bowel cancer. Their research is vital to saving lives and fundraising opportunities have been badly affected by Coronavirus. My life has changed immensely since my diagnosis. I’m continuing to undergo regular chemotherapy (cycle 24 as I write this!) and hoping that surgery will One day become an option for me. Fingers crossed and maximum defiance!
While I’m able to, I’ll be walking throughout September, aiming to walk 50 miles individually, with family and with friends. Every penny raised will go to Bowel Cancer UK. The major advances in saving lives from bowel cancer in the past 20 years have all come through research; my efforts, with your support, will contribute to this.
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They help to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer and second biggest cancer killer in the UK. However, it shouldn't be because it is treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early and there have been major advances in treatments and bowel cancer screening programmes in recent years.
