Hi all,
As most of you know I like living life to the full and am always up for a challenge or undertaking something crazy or adventures. I can only put this down to having the great supporting parents I have in my parents in my life. They have always shown me that no matter what challenge is put in your path, you can always find the strength to overcome this with the help from others or on your own steam. I'm blessed with a great group of family and friends, fantastic job and have drive still to do more in life... So have set myself a few challenges this year, this being the first.
Blind Veterans UK charity has a personal impact for me as my father is a Blind Veteran and I have seen the amazing ways that the charity has helped him combat the terrifying challenges of visual impairment and overcome them to go skiing, cycling and more and lead a full and active life. In the past year I have started working with this charity, volunteering my time to help out in functions/fund raisers across the UK and abroad, and this year I'm taking on a few little challenges myself to raise some funds:
1) The first challenge of the year is to walk the 84 mile distance of Hadrian’s Wall in six days
2) Just two Days after the Hadrian’s Wall walk, I am running the Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K
For almost 100 years Blind Veterans UK has given blind and visually impaired ex-Service men and women the tools they need to lead full and independent lives. Their work ranges from helping veterans relearn vital life skills and providing them with the tools they need to be independent in their own homes, to offering new learning, training and recreation opportunities and providing long-term nursing, residential and respite care.
