Story
Most people seeing my name and the word Marathon in the same sentence would be forgiven for thinking I need a Snicker. (old people please explain to the young) Such distance is not my chosen pastime. But it is time to give something back to the people responsible for me still being here and able to do it. I have been preparing for the event since January. 42.2k target time sub 3hr 30min.
In June 2018 I woke at 4am in some discomfort. It became clear on analysis that I was having a heart attack. The rapid response of the Ambulance service and paramedics had me quickly out of danger and on my way to hospital. Whilst still in the ambulance the team in the operating theatre where already monitoring my vital signs and within 2 minutes of arrival had me on the operating table for surgery. Thanks to the Research of the BHF and the dedication of our Wonderful NHS I had stents fitted before 6am and was being asked what I would like for breakfast by 7am! 2 days later I was back in the comfort of my own home. The BHF do great research and improve the lives of so many together with our great Medical Teams who are able to deliver new technologies in saving more lives. I am indebted to their skill, care and professionalism.
