We never know what life holds for us when the phone rings. But when you’ve got a son in the Army you just hope that the phone never rings. On the 10th September 2008 it did.
Rozner’s Story:
Rozner was shot while on patrol in Nad Ali, in Helmand Province. He said: “We got ambushed from the left in a farmer’s field and I got shot in the right leg. Initially I was treated on the ground. There was a tourniquet at first because there was a lot of blood, and morphine. The lads put me on a stretcher and carried me 1,800 metres. I was met by the quick reaction force and they got us back to control base, and a helicopter came for us and I was airlifted.” Rozner was transferred from Camp Bastion to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he was treated for his wounds. The Army personnel were brilliant. The support he and our family received was second to none. For us this is a good news story. Rozner is OK. He still has the bullet in his leg but he’s doing well. He received regular physiotherapy and emotional support from the Army and is expected to make a full recovery. Rozner and Dani had a little girl "Willow" on the 10th September 2009 exactly 1 year to the day he was shot. We know how lucky we are as a family but many more soldiers and their families still need support.
Next month Rozner is returning to Afghanistan with the TA. We don't want the phone to ring but it's good to know that with your support we can help to support him, Danni, Willow and all of the men out there. Dig deep peeps.
On Sunday 11th September and Sunday 18th September 2011 I’m running the Robin Hood Half Marathon and the Great North Run respectively to raise money for this great charity. I’d like to ask for your support. I’ll do the leg work – you do the finger work. Just Giving will do the rest.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
