Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A new year brings a new challenge, and on 5 August 2018, I will taking on The Thames Marathon – a 14km long distance swim from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow, in one of the UK’s most famous river, in the city that I love.
By taking on this challenge, I’ll also be helping a fantastic charity in East London and I hope that you can be a part of that too.
Each year, Caritas Anchor House welcomes over 250 homeless people through their doors and provides them with a home and the support needed to improve their lives.
A staggering 1 in 25 people are homeless in the London Borough of Newham, where they are based – more than anywhere else in London.
The loss of a private tenancy is now the number one cause of homelessness in London, with more than 100 tenants a day being evicted from their homes. The increased costs of renting and the
long-running freeze to housing benefit contribute to this rising number. Most people are just three pay cheques away from homelessness – it could happen to any of us.
And that’s why I’ve chosen to raise money for Caritas Anchor House. Every donation has the potential to make a difference to someone’s life. I would be very grateful for any donations, and am hugely appreciative of your support.
