Story
Corporal Lloyd Newell, Lloydy was fatally wounded whilst on operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on 16th June 2011. Lloyd was a cadet with Witham detachment, B coy and this is how we met. An inspiration to so many he continued to keep in touch with the cadets offering help and assistance with training where he could. Friend, husband and a father to a beautiful daughter he was our true hero. He loved his job, and made the ultimate sacrifice doing it. His passing has left an enormous hole in the lives and hearts of all who knew him. He was a special man, a man who always went a little further, and the best I've ever known.
As a tribute to Lloydy and what he belived in a group of the old guard will be taking part in the Para’s 10 endurance race. Joined by Sean Edwards and Mark Burns fellow cadet instructors and Dean Martin one of Lloyds close friend from his time spent with the Witham army cadets. We will be putting our peronal fitness and determination to the test.
Lloyd was and still is an inspiration to all who knew him and he keeps us going, striving to go a little further!
