Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The reason I have set this page up is to raise fund for The British Heart Foundation.     https://www.bhf.org.uk/

I'd never heard about the charity until February 20th 2011.  I had been out on my bike teaching my granddaughter how to ride her bike without stabilizers  all in all a great afternoon.

After popping out to the local shop on arriving home I had a dizzy spell.  The pain in between my shoulder blades was caused by hanging the curtains in the lounge that morning(what else could it have been).    A few minutes after laying down to ease the back pain the sweating started with a shortness of breath just to make it interesting, Been male it was just a case of there's nothing wrong it was lifting those bloody curtains up to re hang them that had caused all this.  I asked Bridie if I could just have a quick squirt of that spray she had to see if it would make breathing any easier.

Did not get the spray, she was too busy on the phone ringing 999. Within the hour I had been see by a First Responder ,  Ambulance Crew and finally a team at Castle Hill Hospital(who had their Sunday evenings at home ruined,Sorry)  What! I'd had a Heart Attack, not me,it was not like it's shown on the telly

The Grim Reaper had been cheated, Bridie tells me that's an  exaggeration but I believe that if she had not phoned 999 and the NHS and the team at Castle Hill had not been there that would have been it for me.   A big thank you to all

The treatment methods developed by the BHF and the NHS  provided the treatment that saved me was not available just a few years ago,but that was not the end. A rehab program with the BHF and East Ridding Council was the next step and within 5 months it was back to work after been passed fit to drive HGV's again.Through all this BHF nurses were a call away 24/7 to answer all my questions.

Thanks to there advice I went from been unable to cycle a couple of miles after the heart attack to doing the    Prudential Ride London 100 this August

I could go on singing there praises and telling you about what they do and the information they provide but that is best done by themselves so please visit there website.
