Story
I'm taking on Cycle for Dementia to raise money for Alzheimer's Society. My Challenge culminates in March as I participate in the 2023 Cape Town Cycle Tour with my Dad who turns 80 this year. Dad will be doing his 22nd race this year as I do my first.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is arguably one of the most beautiful races in the world taking in the sights of both the Indian and Atlantic ocean as we start off in the shadow of Table Mountain, and across the peninsula, taking in the breath-taking views of Hout Bay and Chapman's Peak Drive. Total distance 109 km (70 miles).
In December 2022 my mum-in-law lost her partner to dementia and Parkinson's Disease. However, the process of loss began many years before he passed away. It is so sad to see those you love, lose their loved ones long before they're actually gone, due to memory loss and poor quality of life.
900,000 people are currently living with dementia across the UK. Until we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society is here for everyone affected. Wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Your donations will keep me going so please hit the Give Now button and donate what you can to help beat dementia.
If I can reach a target of £10 per km that'll be absolutely fantastic!
Thank you!
