Story
Lots of my friends have responded generously to my requests over the last several years to sponsor me on the annual walks to raise funds for the dedicated care that our local Hospice gives, without charge, to Harrow and Brent people in the last stages of their lives. I know that many local people have benefited greatly from hospice care.
So I make no excuse for approaching you again. The need for funds is every bit as great as ever. St Luke’s Hospice in Kenton gets only about 30% of its running cost from Government bodies. The remainder, about £3million a year, has to come from fundraising efforts such as these walks, our charity shops and legacies. We cannot afford to neglect any of them. There is more information at the website www.stlukes-hospice.org (which I help to maintain).
This year’s walk was a 67 mile route over the Quantock Hills and Exmoor. Though until a few years ago I regularly covered the whole distance of each walk, I now have to limit myself to a reduced mileage, which this year amounted to 52 miles. We were walking in mixed weather between 30 April and 4 May. Like all the walkers, I meet my own costs of travel, food and accommodation.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Your money gets to patient care faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
