Hey!
I'm running the London Marathon with my mate Delew in April.
We ran the Manchester Half together last Oct to raise money for Cancer Research and now we're really excited to be running the London Marathon.
I'm taking the opportunity to raise funds for The Haemophilia Society.
For folks that know my dad you might know that Roddy has haemophilia.
Roddy was born with haemophilia in 1969, when treatment wasn’t as sophisticated as it is now.
Spending days in hospital, missing a year of school and not being able to take part in school sports like any child his age would want to.
I’m inspired by how my dad didn’t let this experience hold him back. He instead threw himself into supporting others with haemophilia, counting himself as one of the lucky ones for not getting a more serious infection due to the blood scandal.
Dad worked with THS to bring public attention to what had happened with the blood scandal. He worked with folks including Andy Burham and members of the House of Lords to drive change and attention to what had happened — we're now starting to see the government take action for the thousands who were impacted and continue to be impacted.
The work THS has done to share awareness of haemophilia, drive new treatments and get the reparations for those impacted by the scandal is incredible and shows the importance of organisations like THS.
I want to contribute to the future of haemophilia care, in a small way, by representing THS at the marathon and help support their great work.
Thank you for any contributions you can make during what I appreciate is really difficult time for many.
