Brighton Marathon 2013 · 14 April 2013 ·
Hi everyone!
I've been 'thinking' about doing a marathon for quite some time. One of those things that sounds like quite a fun thing todo as long as your just discussing it! However after a dinner involving slightly to much wine, in which I said I would do a marathon, I started researching and to cut a long story short I have now commited to running the Brighton Marathon and raising atleast £500 for WaterAid! Not forgetting the obligatory 6 months of tortouring my respiratory system in order to train for it!
I chose to run for WaterAid for two reasons. Firstly, for me the their efforts providing sustainable clean water supplies and effective sannitation to those throughout the world who do not have access to these essentials is crucially important, as I believe this is a basic human right everyone should enjoy. Secondly their work is of great personal relevance to me as I indend to persue a career in international development. To me they represent a fanastic example of what an NGO should do: providing help where its needed, but in a sustainable manner, so as to ensure long term improvements in quality of live for those they help.
So please donate! Any amount small or large would be extremely welcome!
Thank you!
Patrick
