Story
Hello / Bonjour,
My goal is to run the Paris Marathon 2016 to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
My brother Seamus was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in late November 2008. On the 6th of April 2009, whist living in Paris, he lost his battle with cancer. He was almost 44.
It was a frightening time for him and for us his family and friends. My first contact to get information was through the Irish Cancer Society. They gave me the information I sought and the support I needed to support Seamus through his brief illness.
It costs approximately 500 Euro to train a volunteer to provide emotional and practical support to people with cancer at any stage of their battle with cancer.
42kms is a short journey in the grand scheme of things. Though there was a time when even 1km seemed like a step too far to run! When I first started to jog Seamus would tease "some day you'll be running marathons". I didn't really believe him and I think he really didn't think it would happen either.
But here we are. And I will be on the start line on the 3rd of April this year.
Please support me in doing this. And donate what you can, however little, for a very worthy cause.
Merci,
Patricia
