Story
Some of you may remember I ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 2010 and asked for donations to the Anthony Nolan Charity after our little friend Ruth was diagnosed with leukemia. Very sadly, Ruth lost her long battle earlier this year and her family have decided to support the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. You can read Ruth's full story on Nick Radcliffe's page, In Memory of Ruth Radcliffe.
This year, Mike and I both have our running shoes on and between us we hope to run a number of races in Ruth's memory and would be very grateful for any contributions you can make.
First stop is the Liverpool Half Marathon (TICK) that we have both entered, on March 18th. Then up to Edinburgh in May where Mike is taking on the full 26.2 miles (TICK) and I'm joining our friend Ali Pandian to run the half (TICK). My current plan is to complete the Liverpool Marathon in October but we are relocating in the summer, so that will depend on how things go.
So, all going well that is 91.7 miles and this page will be open for you to donate as and when you can, until early 2013.
Running (for me anyway) is about so much more than simply putting one foot in front of the other and so, so often when I am struggling and need to dig deep I think of Ruth's fighting spirit and feel lifted and blessed. Ruth's parents, Nick and Julia have been an inspiration through such a long, difficult period and have shown us all how to love, even when it hurts.
Give what you can and know it will be much appreciated and put to very good use.
Thanks, Tricia.
