Story
Well in just over a weeks time I will be setting off on my walk in aid of "Living well with Dementia". This is the chosen charity this year for the NHS walk.
Pat Furness and myself originally planned to attempt the full walk of 18 miles but due to family circumstances we have had to go for the shorter option of 9 miles.
I decided to take part in this walk because it is a charity very close to my heart.
Some years ago a very special friend of mine was diagnosed with this cruel illness. She was just about to retire and was very much looking forward to the next stage of her life. I saw and shared the devastating effect this illness had on her and her family.
This charity aims to make wards and outpatients areas across both hospitals more dementia friendly, which will be of great benefit to patients and their families and I am proud to be helping in some way for this to be achieved.
If you feel you would like to help me to support "Living well with Dementia" you can use the link to this page to make a donation, no matter how big or small the donation it will be going to a very worthy cause.
Many years ago my friend told me her mother always watched over her and made things happen. I hope she will be watching over me on the 22nd July to make this happen.
"I am sure she will be".
