Patchwork’s Charity Cycle Ride from Paris to Brussels for Alzheimer’s Society · 29 September 2022

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

An update from Dr Anas Nader, our Co-Founder and CEO:

I’m happy to share that over 200 miles later, our brilliant team of cyclists completed our Paris to Brussels charity bike ride, raising a phenomenal £3,000 (and counting) for Alzheimer’s Society.

Morale was high throughout the trip, despite a fair bit of rain over the second half of our journey. I’m so proud of all the team for completing this challenge, which made for an incredible end to our annual Patchweek.

A huge thank you to everyone that made this trip possible, and most importantly to everyone that has so generously donated over the past few weeks; your support has meant so much to all of us, and is going to a truly fantastic cause.

Here’s to round 3 next year!

----

Last year, the Patchwork team cycled from London to Paris for Momentum Children’s Charity, raising an incredible £3500 from over 100 generous donations to support children living with cancer and their families, including our much loved colleague Rich Lucas, and his daughter Esme, who bravely fought leukaemia and received support from the charity.

On 29th September this year, we’re setting out on a new, momentous challenge for an extremely important cause and in support of Matt Parker, another inspiring Patchworker. The Patchwork team will be cycling 175 miles from Paris to Brussels in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

The charity helps fund essential care and research for people living with and affected by dementia, and is particularly close to our hearts at Patchwork.

Having experienced first-hand the devastating impact Alzheimer’s disease can have on individuals and their families, Patchwork’s Head of Quality and Testing, Matt Parker, has embarked on a number of challenges this year to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

We’re joining Matt’s incredible efforts and we couldn’t be prouder to be riding in support of his family and the many millions of people in the UK affected by the condition.

Matt has shared the following words about why the work of Alzheimer’s Society is so important:

Many will be well aware of the challenges my dad is facing with Alzheimer’s and in turn the challenges it places on my family. Whilst supporting them as much as possible, it feels apt to try and raise money for charities that work towards supporting others who come face to face with Alzheimer’s. If you are able and wish to, please consider donating.”

We would really appreciate any donations, to spur the team on even more during our 3 day cycle challenge! Thank you to Matt, our team of cyclists and to everyone who supports our fundraising activities.
