Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Saturday came and went. I now have short hair! The result is in the new picture. It's a fabulous cut - thanks to Judith Pattinson who braided, cut and styled my hair. The silver shampoo is on it's way!
It's going to take a couple of weeks before I decide whether I should keep it short or grow it (maybe not as long as it was before). I do appreciate the kind comments saying that I suit my hair short, but I'm curious how my hair would look longer if it was styled.
My hair will be used towards a a wig for someone who has suffered from medical hair loss. Vanessa at Glamorous Butterfly is getting my hair.
There are no UK statistics on hair loss so I’ll use US data to illustrate the scale of the issue. One in four women and children suffer some form of medical hair loss in their lifetime due to chemotherapy, radiotherapy, auto-immune alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, hormonal hair loss, medication-induced hair loss, scarring alopecia and other conditions. One in four. That’s a lot of people.
We’re raising money for mynewhair – Trevor Sorbie’s charity – which provides advice and support through a national network of salons and professionals who style wigs for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.
