Story
My mum, Hashmet Anwar, was an amazing woman, always caring, compassionate and loving. Although she never carried me in her womb for 9 months, my mum carried me in her heart for over half a century. She took me in, when most would not have had the strength,
and brought me up as her own alongside her children. I am eternally grateful to my mum, who I called my angel, for the life she gave me. When I was recently reunited with my birth mother, my mum could not have been happier for me.
Sadly, my beautiful mum passed away in August 2020 from Alzheimer’s, it was devastating and covid restrictions at the time meant I had very little time with her at the end.
In her memory I will take part in a 26 mile trek in August this year to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia is set to be the UK’s biggest killer, it does not discriminate, it devastates lives, and right now there is no cure. Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, funding research, providing information and support to sufferers.
Those of you who know me will be aware that this will be a huge undertaking, both because of my own medical condition and the recent set back in my training due to my husband’s recovery from brain surgery.
I know there have been so many worthy causes during these challenging times which you have supported, and here I am asking for a donation to help raise vital funds. I will be turning 60 in August and ask that instead of sending a card or buying a gift, if you could make a donation, however small, to this very worthy cause I would be delighted.
Thank you, Parveen x
