Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This page has been created to raise funds for Park Road School on behalf of the following fundraisers:

Richard Hirst / Paul Goodwin / Richard Park / Mark Garvin / Stuart Lawton / Russell Harpham

Park Road Community Primary School is small suburban school. This year as part of the financial cut back, the school has seen its budget for maintenance of grounds and premises slashed by 80% leaving it with around £6000 for the current fiscal year.

In a “normal” school year maintaining the school on this budget would be almost impossible to achieve. However, this will not be a normal year since due to ongoing vandalism the schools boundary fence needs to be replaced to ensure the safety of both the children and the school environment. The fence will be costing more than the schools maintenance budget impacting on resources that would otherwise be allocated to curriculum and enrichment activities.

PRIDE the school pta has been raising money specifically to improve the play facilities for the students. However, in recognizing the importance of ensuring the safety of the school premises they have used the majority of these funds to meet the short fall in the cost of the fence.

It is our aim to help replace these funds and prevent the all the hard work of the children and the PRIDE fundraisers from going to waste.

How are we going to do this? Funny you should ask this.

The Trans Pennine Trail is a coast to coast cycle path covering 207 Miles from Southport to Hornsea (nr Hull), through 6 counties and 1 National Park. Our plan is to recruit a team of 6 parents to complete this trail during the October half-term break over 4 consecutive days.

So who is mad enough to do this.....

Over the next 15 weeks we will be training and preparing for this ride and updating you along the way. In replacing the PRIDE funds and securing the school grounds, we wanted to ensure PRIDE to achieve their goal of funding the installation of an obstacle course for the children to use in the school grounds.

We hope you can join us in supporting this and donating generously towards achieving our goal.

Please ensure you provide your contact details so that we can ensure we get the GiftAid contribution..

UPDATE 21st August 2011

The bikers conducted their first full days cycling from Warrington-Southport and back to Warrington again. In total we all completed 73miles.

Some of us realised that we could do with some additional equipment and a complement of additional snacks to keep us going. There is a photo attached to show us at the finishing line of our southport trip with a well earned drink.

Thank you for all the donations so far please keep them coming as we have a long way to go both physically and financially!!
