Story
The Belfast Marathon was cancelled last year due to the first COVID 19 lockdown and Park Hood had organised lockdown marathon relay team. We thought though that wouldn’t stop us! We came up with the idea to run, walk or hike 26.2 miles as a team but separately each as individuals walked and ran at their lockdown location of choice. Our goal was to run or walk across the team at least a distance of 26.2 miles – we know we were able to achieve this but we weren’t sure by how much we could exceed this distance. We asked our friends and families to join us also and completed 131miles together, the equivalent of 5 marathons and raised £340 for the NHS. Not too bad!
This year the Belfast Marathon has been postponed until September but we have decided to continue again. As this year has been tough for all and more specifically those less fortunate than ourselves we decided to raise money for a very worthy cause,
FareShare Northern Ireland which is the only fresh food redistribution project fighting hunger and food waste.
The venue will take place on Sunday - 2nd of MAY 2021.
As a Team we will run or walk or hike or crawl (no scooter nor bike) 26.2 miles as a TOTAL Company team (not individual), at our “lockdown” running/walking spot, at our pace, at our time, but it has to happen on Sunday. So any miles counts:)
The challenge will be to do 26.2 miles as a total
Team. Or multiply of 26.2miles.
Please wish us luck and please help FareShare Northern Ireland in their very good work to support those most at risk of food poverty.
FareShare Northern Ireland is the only fresh food redistribution project fighting hunger and food waste. We believe that no good food should go to waste. We redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals. Last year in Northern Ireland we delivered 339 tonnes of food to over 100 charities and organisations, who turned it into 800,000+ meals. At this time demand for our service is growing. Please help us in our work to support those most at risk of food poverty.
