Back in May 1964, at the age of 33 our beloved dad, Dr Trevor Tiplady, joined forces with Commander John Davies and Anthony Brown to walk the Parish Boundary of the village of Aldbourne in Wiltshire. This was the first time that this 18-mile walk had taken place.
For many consecutive years, as one of the local GPs, he became a regular participant in the Boundary walk and each year rose to the challenge despite several health issues.
He was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 1999 and also had a quadruple heart bypass in 2000, however this didn’t stop him, and he completed the 50th anniversary of the boundary walk in 2014 at the grand old age of 83!
As a family we are immensely proud of our dad’s achievements. He always tried to maintain a good level of fitness and took great pride in being able to take part in this annual event.
He sadly passed away in 2017 but in this 60th anniversary year of the Boundary walk, and in his memory, three generations of Tipladys will be taking part. The youngest will be his great grandson at the age of 2 and the oldest will be 65.
Prostate Cancer UK is a charity that our dad supported and one that is obviously very close to our hearts. We know that he would absolutely love the fact that we, as a family are coming together from all parts of the UK to walk the 18 miles together.
Please support us if you can – every single penny donated will help raise money for this wonderful cause. We have set the donation bar high but with your help we hope that we can smash the target.
Thank you so much x
