JAIL OR BAIL
Campaign by Changes UK (RCN 1157059)
Changes UK will be arresting, charging and putting on trial local business leaders and partners from the local area who, if found guilty of their entirely fictitious crimes, will have to raise a MINIMUM bail of £999 each to be set free.

Story

Everyone deserves a life of dignity, hope and purpose. At Changes UK we understand that addiction is a mental health issue and often the result of difficult life experiences and past trauma. When you donate to Changes UK you are not only giving someone the gift of recovery, you are giving that same gift to their loved ones, families, children and community. The pandemic ushered in stress, isolation and economic upheaval resulting in an unprecedented decline in the nations mental health. Fear, financial insecurity and unemployment are all contributors to the rise in the nations drinking and drug use, with the sharpest rise in deaths caused by alcohol use in England in the West Midlands. Addiction can happen to anyone, no one is immune. Often people reach a point of crisis because the stigma and shame associated with addiction prevents them from reaching out for help. Help us open the door to a new future, offer a place of safety and acceptance and break the cycle of addiction.

We understand that abstaining from drugs and alcohol is just the beginning of building a new life free from addiction; therefore Changes provides services that support the whole recovery journey - from dependence to independence. We provide a detox service, community based rehabilitation, supported and move on housing and opportunities to gain accredited qualifications, volunteering and work experience. Service users at the beginning of their recovery journey are supported 24 hours a day by qualified staff and our specially trained volunteer peer mentors. They also have access to our Recovery Academy which, over an eight week full time course, begins to build the knowledge and skills that service users need in order to maintain their recovery, build a personal recovery support network (including mutual aid groups) and learn to live life to the full. Changes staff and volunteers are passionate people - we all consider it a privilege to work with people in recovery - and we know that we can help those looking for a new life beyond drugs and alcohol.
