What is happening in Ukraine is beyond words. The invasion from Russia is destroying the livelihood of millions of people, and an unimaginable stream of refugees are forced to abandon their homes, friends and loved ones to seek shelter outside of their own country.
It is easy to feel utterly powerless in front of disasters such as this one. But people can come together and help each other: look at the generosity of those in the immediate neighbouring countries (Poland, Moldova, Slovakia, Hungary & Romania). From many countries, everyday people travel to the border, bringing what is necessary or helping the refugees to reach a more permanent location.
If we cannot go there directly (or, I admit, lack the courage to go there ourselves), we can still do something! We can support those organizations aiding the refugees and those already helping them on the spot.
I humbly ask you to donate what you can to support these efforts. It would mean a lot to me and to all my friends from Ukraine.
You can donate here on JustGiving or directly:

About DEC - Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.
Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across Ukraine have had devastating consequences for ordinary people. Half a million people have fled the country in recent days, and many more have had to leave their homes to escape the fighting.
At Ukraine's borders with Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, huge numbers of people are arriving with only what they can carry. In many places there are long waits to cross and scant facilities waiting for them on the other side, with temperatures dropping below freezing overnight.
DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.
