We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

I am fundraising for Cancer Research UK, particularly research into Treatment of brain tumours and on 28th September I have accepted the challenge of participating in Shine London - a marathon 26 mile nighttime walk around some of London's most famous landmarks.  I've not asked earlier as I wanted to be sure that I could give this a good go and make the distance.  I have invested significant effort in training to complete this - 50 miles in the last week alone.  Thanks to Marg & Mal, and Jurgen & Uli for their support on our many miles.

I am not looking for much - as much as anything, the sense of achievement in reaching the end is my goal, so anything you can spare would be appreciated.

I am doing this in memory of Mel and to support the continuing research  into Brain Tumours - there have been significant advances in stem and T cell research lately, there is hope that this research will help other 'diseases' of the brain and neural conditions ~ and if this will help others then it's got to be a good thing.

Below is the blurb from Cancer Research on the topic but in the meantime, thank you.

Help to beat brain tumours.

Thank you for visiting my Shine fundraising page in support of brain cancer research. Please dig deep and sponsor me – it’s quick, easy and totally secure.

Every year around 9,100 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour. But they can sometimes be hard to treat and around 4,900 people lose their life to the disease every year.  The good news is that, in children, brain tumour survival has almost doubled since the late 1960’s.  But unfortunately less progress has been seen in adults.  Cancer Research UK is a major funder of brain tumour research in the UK and we want to see a day when this disease is cured.

Amazing people like you help support Cancer Research UK’s research into new treatments for brain tumours. By sponsoring me you can help more people survive brain cancer.
Every pound you donate really does make a difference towards the work into diagnosing and treating brain tumours – so please sponsor me now!

Gift Aid it!

If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Let’s beat cancer sooner.
