Thirdly, why this is important to me.  Dear, great friends of Mark and I recently had their life turned upside down as a result of a stroke.  We all looked on and thought how could such a thing happen to such a strong and fit person in the prime of life.  I have seen both my friends and their family go through what is an extremely tough time and I have watched the determination in their faces every time I see them to keep going and rebuild their life and create a new, different one.  I admire them.  The support of the stroke doctors and nurses has been key to his recovery and I would like to help give something back to them for helping my friend when he needed it.  Every step I take I think of my dear friend taking his first after his stroke and I know I can achieve this 10k.  For those of you who know me well you will know how hilarious and challenging this is for me, coming from a girl who couldn't run upstairs at the start of my running mission.
