In November this year Ian and I are undertaking quite a challenge - cycling nearly 225 miles through Galilee in northern Israel, to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Nazareth Hospital. We have been training for a couple of months and are looking forward to the challenge - at least that's the official line!

This is a joint charity event run by the two charities that comprised the EMMS when the Nazareth Hosptial was founded: EMMS International and The Nazareth Trust. Funds raised are shared between the charities withThe Nazareth Trust using the fiunds for the new mortuary project at the Hospital and for support of christian witness in Nazareth; EMMS International for their Hospice and Palliative Care programmes in Malawi, India and Nepal.

The Nazareth Hospital is a Christian hospital, owned by EMMS Nazareth (of which Ian is currently chair), a partnership organisation to EMMS International. Since 1861, the Hospital has served the people of Galilee, regardless of race or religion. In that time, it has grown from a 4 bed clinic to a 136 bed District General Hospital, recognised by the Ministry of Health in Israel and serving all the people of Nazareth and lower Galillee.
