Story

On Friday 10th August 2018 my wonderful and beautiful Mum Bridget Wise aka. Muma Wizz passed away peacefully after putting up a good fight to Lung, Spleen & Liver cancer. Mum’s last weeks were made up of making some very special memories within the walls of St. Michaels Hospice, St. Leonard’s On-Sea. We will be forever grateful for the referral to the hospice. Without this via the NHS I can’t imagine what could have happened. The service the staff and facilities provided for our Mum was truly breath taking. Mum was comfortable and safe and she said she felt like she was on holiday. We couldn’t fault the support we received as a family in such a variety of ways. The hospice holds a very very special place in my heart and those times spent there I will never ever forget.

I want to help raise £2000 as a thank you to the hospice and I will be raising money by aiming to complete an event every single month between 25.11.2018 (First event completed – Crowborough 10k) and November 2019. Below is my events calendar and this will be updated accordingly. Any recommendations please let me know! All events, training and kit will be paid for by myself and this will be a separate entity from any donations received. I will also be donating 50p for every patient I treat as part of my Sports Therapy business (www.facebook.com/sportstherapywise) to help towards fundraising.

A little bit of background of how unbelievably amazing SMH is…

“St. Michaels Hospice provides high quality, responsive palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings & Rother and works collaborative with others to improve end of life care for all.”

It costs a whopping £12,000 a day to run the hospice so if I can help raise money towards that by setting myself and achieving these challenge’s over a year I will be extremely happy and proud! My Mum always said I do too much and need to slow down so I have to take a moment now to say sorry to her as she will be looking down saying I’m crazy for signing myself up to this! All in the love of Mum, SMH, health and inspiring stories I have heard from friends, colleagues, patients and more regarding their own journeys; also at SMH.

Please come and support me if you can! Some of you may know I have never completed a marathon or triathlon and only started to learn to swim July 2018 so this is a HUGE challenge which I am excited for but equally nervous for! BRING IT ON!
