Story
This will be my fourth time fundraising for BMC in the Boston Triathlon, and an extra-special one. This year, I am fundraising in honor of my teammate Maddie, from UC Davis Triathlon!
I moved to Boston when I was 18, a freshman in college who was SO excited to join the track and XC team there. Fast-forward ten years to graduate school, where I met another bright-eyed 18-year-old joining a college sports team: my friend Maddie, who like me had joined the UC Davis tri team. We instantly bonded over our shared love of Boston, and I have loved getting to know this kind, joyful, determined young woman who has so much to offer her friends, her team, and the world.
Maddie was in a serious accident this spring while riding her bike around Davis. Because of Maddie's strength and fighting spirit, and the help of expert medical teams, she is on her way to recovery. This year, I'd like to dedicate my race, and all proceeds from my BMC fundraiser, in honor of Maddie. BMC's long-standing efforts to support health equity in Boston are a great cause all on their own, and I hope they can benefit from the same drive, dedication, and love that Maddie brings to any challenge she takes on.
Please help me support better health outcomes for Boston's community members, and help me celebrate Maddie and cheer her on!
Best,
Paige
