I’m really excited to tell you that I have been selected to volunteer overseas with Raleigh International on an International Citizen Service placement. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development     .                 

The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Raleigh and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS, ensuring they can continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.

Whilst abroad with the charity i will be participating in a WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene) project. This entails bringing clean water and improving hygiene for the area and the community, and all the money raised goes straight towards the cause. All the money raised goes towards the WASH project and improving the lives of those in the community. 75% of those in Tanzania live in rural communities and access to safe water and sanitation services is rare, the money raised will go towards better access for the community. 

The targets set out are; Raise half - £400 by July 29th and the full amount - £800 to be raise by 2nd September at the latest. I am due to set out to Tanzania on September 22nd and return December 12th.
