Story
In September I will be trekking Paget Peak (2565m) in Yoho National Park to raise funds for the Paget's Association. The trek climbs up to the peak, with the dreaded loose scree and slabs for half of the ascent (and descent!). With the likelihood of encountering wild bears too it will be quite a challenge.
The Paget's Association is the only UK charity to solely support those affected by Paget's Disease of Bone and in 2023, will have been doing so for fifty years. The Association needs your help to raise £50,000 to continue providing support well into the future. What is Paget's disease? Pagets disease affects the normal repair and renewal process of bone. Throughout life, bone is renewed and repaired through a process called bone remodelling. Pagets disease is characterised by abnormalities in this process. Bone affected by Paget's disease may be enlarged and misshapen. Symptoms can include severe pain and deformity, and the potential for complications, such as fracture and deafness, will depend on which bones are affected. If those around them have never heard of the condition, people with Paget's disease can feel very alone. Help the Paget's Association to assist those who need information, advice and support, and to fund vital research. Please donate what you can. Thank you.
