To support my early mid-life crisis, I am running 4 marathons within a month, including one on my 30th birthday! This is to raise money for Williams Syndrome Foundation (WSF).
Why?
WSF is a charity close to my heart. My precious niece Lottie was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome at birth. It’s a rare congenital disorder that causes delayed physical and mental development as well as learning difficulties and various other health challenges.
Lottie is just adorable. Her smile lights up the room but she has already had to go through a lot in her short life.
One of the challenges for individuals and families with Williams syndrome is because it is so rare, with only 1 in 18,000 people having the condition, it is less understood than other congenital disorders. Only 1 in 30 GPs will ever see a patient with WS.
WSF has been an invaluable charity that has offered support to my family since Lottie's diagnosis.
What is WSF?
WSF promotes research to help health professionals/ schools/ families understand Williams syndrome better and provides a support network to families as well as organising events within the Williams syndrome community.
