Story
I will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October and have chosen the Royal Observatory Greenwich’s Telescope Appeal as my charity. I hope you will give generously to help a project that will return this world famous historic landmark to a working observatory and a stargazing hub.
The project is twofold – firstly to restore the Edwardian Altazimuth Pavilion, a neglected gem at the Observatory - and then to install two state of the art telescopes to gather valuable scientific data and to capture and stream images of deep space.
The Observatory’s seventeenth century foundations are laid on science investigation and learning and this project continues this great tradition. The goal is to share the images and data with media, schools, universities and other scientific institutions around the world – reaching and inspiring the next generation of scientists and astronomers.
The Project is still short of £20,000 for the Observatory and every little will help to get us there. I hope you will feel able to support me and this transformational project.
Thanks
Paddy
