Story
It’s time to put down the buckets and pick up the paddles - the Cornish Seal Sanctuary’s animal care team need your help as they get ready to Paddle For Pools!
Part of the Fund Our Future campaign, they’re paddle-boarding 5km across the stunning Helford Estuary this August to raise money for this vital project.
The challenge itself, held on August 3rd, will see the team paddling from Grebe Beach to our site here in Gweek – no easy task after a hard day on their feet.
Every penny raised will go towards supporting our £1.3million fundraising campaign to build new pools at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, which will not only secure the charity’s future for years to come but will also see the creation of better facilities for both the animals and the care team on site.

*Please note, this is not a Cornish Seal Sanctuary event and is being hosted in the animal care team's free time.
What is Fund Our Future?
With more than 60 years already under their belts, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary is embedded into the hearts of Cornwall's local residents and guests alike. From grandparents who remember visiting as children, to the youngsters now coming through the doors for the first time, their work continues to inspire generations to care for and support our wild marine species.
But, today, we need your help!
To futureproof the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for generations to come, we’re now raising vital funds to redevelop the pools and help the charity remain world-leaders in seal conservation and care.
And that’s where the Fund Our Future project comes in. This £1.3million fundraising campaign is all about securing the charity’s future, while placing world-class animal welfare at the centre of everything they do.
With your support, they hope to:
• Build a state-of-the-art filtration system (dramatically improving water quality and clarity for the animals and visiting guests alike)
• Provide better access to pools for the animal carers (giving them more space to train and enrich our residents)
• Create a new, undercover viewing area with seating and education spaces
• Exceed recommended standards in marine mammal care
• Inspire the next generation to help them take their work forward
The team would be very grateful for your donations, the more we raise the faster we will paddle!
