Story
Dust off your running shoes and grab your bicycle, Pact Coffee are travelling to origin! Well, sort of.
Here at Pact Coffee we work with coffee farmers around the world. Due to the current climate, we can't visit farmers as we normally would, so we're embarking on a company challenge to go to Rwanda, lockdown-style.
From Pact HQ (Bermondsey, London), to the Remera washing station in Kigoma, Rwanda, is a whopping 6,609km as the crow flies. So, we're collectively walking, hiking, running and cycling (or any other self-propelled method) the full distance to one of our favourite coffee-growing origins.
We're undertaking this challenge to both celebrate Women in Coffee (and the female-led cooperatives we partner with in Rwanda), and to get behind a cause that needs attention and full support in this challenging time.
Domestic abuse has surged during lockdown, and Refuge are the key providers of support, advocacy and care in combating this issue. So join us on our journey to cover 6,609km and help us raise £4,000 for a fantastic and important cause!
One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence. By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence. Thank you.
It goes without saying that all participants undertake activity with full understanding of and in accordance with government guidance around exercise and social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
