Story
In December '21 we received the devastating news that my husband, Richard Sullivan had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer - stage 4 glioblastoma. Trying to process the desperate news and its impact on our family life, in a car park, remains a moment I wish I could forget.
That's why I'm fundraising towards creating a 'Forest in the Sky' roof garden adjacent to the Neuro ICU at the Atkinson Morley Wing as St Georges. The garden will provide a restful space for critical care patients, carers and loved ones trying to cope with the impact of extremely difficult and traumatic circumstances. The garden promises to have benefits for patient rehabilitation through becoming re-acquainted with the outside world and using their senses to stimulate the healing process.
Grateful for the outstanding treatment provided by the surgeons at St George’s Hospital, where Richard has had brain surgery, I’ll be walking 21 kilometres to St Georges Hospital in Tooting from my home in Surrey on 13 May.I shall be accompanied by my darling daughters, K-J and Lily, my fabulous friend, Karen Handford, and many wonderful supporters.
We shall take the scenic route through Hampton Court, Richmond Park and across Wimbledon and Putney Commons, and finally onto Tooting,
