"Seaton athlete to take on Double Ironman challenge for charity"
I am an athlete from the East Devon town of Seaton and have set myself a gruelling 280 mile mutil-discipline challenge to raise money for Clic Sargent, a charity that provides cancer support for children and young people. I have set myself the target of completing a double ironman, which will see me swim a distance of 4.8 miles, cycle 224 miles and run 52 miles, the latter the equivalent of completing two back-to-back marathons.
A father of four, I took part in an ironman event in Nottingham in 2011, I have enlisted the support of friends and fellow members of my local running club, the Axe Valley Runners, to help me with my bid. I will be starting the challenge at 6am on Friday 16 September 2016, and I expect it to take around 36 hours to complete.
Ever since I completed the Nottingham ironman I wondered how far I could push myself, and so the idea of attempting a double ironman presents a really tough challenge. Once I had the idea in my head then I had to try and do it!
I am aiming to raise £2,800 for Clic Sargent, which represents ten times the total mileage that I will be covering. I thank in advance those who wish to donate for being a part of the caring journey.
